Capresso MT900

"My shipment arrived and right out of the box it was perfect. It brews 10 cups in 10 minutes, having the stainless steel carafe keeps it warm for about 4 hours. The flavor is perfect. The water reservoir detaches for easy filling. Having the auto program feature saves time in the morning. The water filter allows use of tap water. I would purchase this again."

Capresso MT900 Model #498 (Thermal) Coffee Maker

"I was very impressed with the Capresso MT900 and the design! However, I wished this coffee maker would keep the coffee hot for two hours like my last Capresso MG600 (Glass carafe). The MT900 coffee maker is made for business and office use not for household Otherwise, I am very impressed with the design model #498 Thermal"

A nice coffee maker

"This is my second shot at writing a review--the first one did not go through. I gave the coffee maker four stars instead of five because it's tricky to seat the coffee basket correctly. But I'm sure we will get used to it and get it right soon. We had a Capresso for at least eight years which we loved. Unfortunately, it died on Thanksgiving when it sprung a massive leak. The new coffee maker also makes excellent coffee, albeit a bit slower and louder than the old machine. But it does a terrific job, so we don't mind the changes. It also takes up a bit less room on the counter which is always a plus in a smallish kitchen. I love the removable water tank, which the old one had, too. The carafe keeps the coffee hotter and longer than the old one. Basically, I was looking for a thermal carafe, removable water tank, and excellent coffee in a compact unit. This one has exactly what we needed."

Capresso MT900

"Coffee filter holder will not seat in place if you have coffee pot in place. Lid will not close properly. You must remove coffee pot, then close lid, then insert coffe pot. Every other feature works great."

Long but thorough review

"I wouldn't consider myself a coffee "snob" but I'm definitely a "serious" coffee lover. For over 10 years now I've used a burr grinder every morning to freshly grind my dark French roast beans. I've become obsessed with making a morning cup of coffee that tastes every bit as good as any you get from the big "S" chain or other coffee shops. Despite getting good beans and using the burr grinder, I was only getting good coffee using a French press which was a pain and which (at least the 32oz one I have) didn't make enough coffee especially if guests were over. After doing some research I found out that most home coffee makers do not get their water to the right temperature nor use the correct speed of water through the grounds. Both of these affect how the coffee will taste - perfect versus bitter or weak. So after doing more research I found the Capresso ST600. I had this coffee maker for about 8 years. It made great coffee and I always got compliments from guests that my coffee was as good or better than Big S! I loved the sleek tall stainless steel look, the gold tone filter (no paper waste) and the wide-mouth thermal carafe (kept coffee warm for hours and easy to clean). The only issue, which others also reported, was that the carafe would slip away from the machine on my granite counters causing the coffee-making process to stop. This was easily fixed with a paper towel placed on the bottom of the carafe. Capresso stopped making that machine but despite that fact the customer service was awesome and I had the machine serviced twice at a reasonable cost. Finally in December 2016, the ST600 started leaking from the bottom of the machine and was causing my circuit breaker to pop. After a quick call to Capresso they gave me 2 options: they could try and fix the machine or they would give me a discount on a new one after trading in my old one. The trade-in idea was perfect as I had already been looking at new machines that also made coffee the "correct" way. I didn't want to go super high end with machines like the Technivorm brand spending $200 - $400. I didn't want a machine with a built-in grinder and I heard mixed reviews on the Capresso MT600. Then I saw and started researching the MT900. Bingo! I started realizing that the MT900 was basically the same machine as my old ST600 but with major improvements. When Capresso told my I could get it for $99 ($40 off with my trade-in) boom - done deal. I have had the machine for about 2 weeks now and here is what I can tell you: 1. Makes GREAT coffee. I had to adjust my grind setting and my coffee amount. I had been using one scoop of ground coffee per 5oz of water but I had to change to one scoop per 4oz with the MT900. We like strong coffee and using French roast beans. That measure makes a perfect cup of strong, tasty (not bitter) cup of coffee. 2. The carafe is great. The hole is a little smaller than my old ST600 but still large enough to clean easily. You MUST pre-heat the carafe with hot water if you want your coffee to be at maxim temperature after brewing and to keep the coffee warm for hours. Also you MUST follow the directions - the top MUST be on full lock down when placing under the filter and then turn 180 degrees (to the mark) for easy and flawless pouring. 3. The MT900 has 3 improvements over the ST600 that are great: the water chamber is removable, clear, and much easier to fill; the carafe has a resting plate so no more slipping away; and Capresso has figured out a way to do a quick brew without sacrificing taste or quality. Now the entire brew process takes only 7 minutes! 4. The machine is a beautiful stainless steel that looks great on the counter. Yes it is tall and yes it does produce some steam (the ST600 had that too) but I jut keep my coffee maker in a corner and slide it out to just in front of the cabinets during brewing as I did with my old machine. The steam is not that bad and we only make coffee once a day so I doubt I even need to do that but better safe. NOTES: You MUST follow instructions and run the machine twice with no coffee to clean it before brewing coffee. The water marks don't really jive with actual cup or water ounce measures (same as the old ST600) so I still use a measuring cup to make sure I get the right water to coffee ratio. Gently wash the filter with soap and rinse thoroughly after each use to prevent oil build up. Use the 3-5 button if making a small amount of coffee as that changes the brew cycle to make sure you still get a perfect cup. I hope this review helps. Don't listen to the haters. The MT900 is a great machine when used properly and Capresso has great customer service."
