Fully Automatic Function – The front panel of the new Livia G4 Semi-Automatic PID-Controlled espresso machine features a panel of three buttons. These buttons control how long the brew function is enabled. Press the button with the image of a single cup of espresso once, and the internal electronics will run the brew cycle long enough for a single espresso and stop the brew cycle automatically. When the button with two cups shown is pressed, a double espresso is brewed in the same way. These buttons can be programmed by the user for the desired volume. The third button functions as a manual brew button. Press it to brew, and press it again to stop the brew cycle. The first two buttons add one more level of consistency to your brewing as well as allow you to steam milk or do other chores while the espresso is brewing without the fear of over-extracting or overflowing the cup. Regardless of the button chosen, the brew function can be stopped by the user at any time.

PID Digital Temperature Control - PID stands for “Proportional-Integral-Derivative.” That's a mouthful, to be sure. What it means to you is that instead of a mechanical device controlling the boiler temperature, the The Livia G4 Fully-Automatic PID Espresso Machine uses a computerized device to control the temperature of the water in the boiler. A digital display on the front panel shows you that temperature. It not only keeps the boiler temperature within a narrow range for more consistent results, it also allows you to select the desired temperature with conveniently-located “+” and “-” buttons on the front of the machine, next to the digital display that shows the boiler's temperature as well as other parameters.. This makes it easy to find the brewing temperature that best suits your taste preferences.

Front Panel Pump Pressure Gauge – It's easy to keep an eye on your pump's pressure during the extraction with this panel gauge. For example, too fine of a grind and the pressure will read higher than normal. Too coarse and the pressure will read low.

Active Grouphead Heating – Having the PID computer precisely controlling the temperature of the water for brewing espresso is just one step in the equation towards consistent results. Pasquini took it one step further and added a separate heating element with its own thermostat to the group itself. This means that the brew water will not lose heat on its way to the portafilter transferring its heat to the cold metal as will happen in some other machines.

Automatic Boiler Refilling – To add to the automatic features of the Livia G4 Fully-Automatic PID espresso machine the internal sensor in the boiler keeps the water at the optimal height for temperature control as well as steam production. One less thing to worry about.

Relocated Electronic Control Box – The electronics have been relocated as low as possible inside the case where the coolest air exists. This protects the “brain box” from the heat of the boiler.

Heat-Exchanger Boiler – The boiler uses a heat-exchanger system to allow simultaneous brewing of espresso and steaming of milk. No more waiting for steam pressure to build to make a cappuccino or latte! The boiler is nickel plated for longer life as well as to help reduce scaling from minerals in the water and to make descaling easier and more effective.

Vibratory Pump – The 41 watt vibration pump with brass output fitting (not plastic as found on some machines) easily produces the 9 bar (135psi) pressure required to properly extract espresso.

Commercial-Size Portafilter – The 58mm portafilter is the proven size for the best espresso. Virtually all commercial machines use this size portafiler basket.

Redesigned Case – The new case is stainless steel, a classic espresso machine material, and it features a larger cup warmers than the previous model. Yes, warmers! There are two areas to place cups for warming; one on the front panel and one on top of the body. Warming cups keeps the espresso hot longer, and the area makes a nice place to store and show off your drinkware. Warmed cups help keep the espresso or other beverages from cooling off too soon.

Front Panel Indicator Lamp – Next to the power switch there is an indicator lamp. This will show when energy is being sent to the heating element in the boiler. When the machine is on, the PID digital display is illuminated so there no separate power lamp is necessary on the the Livia G4 Semi-Automatic PID.

Joystick Steam and Hot Water Valves – The easy-to-operate steam and hot water valves can be regulated by the position of the lever, or can be held open by moving either lever to its extreme upright position. This makes it unnecessary to hold the valve during the steaming process, and yet allows quick closing of the valve when you feel the milk is textured to its best.

Multi-Directional, Insulated Steam Wand – Positioning the steam wand to best suit your pitcher and steaming technique is easy. The steam wand also features internal insulation to help keep the exterior of the wand cool to help avoid the potential for burns and make cleaning milk off the wand easier.

Large Water Reservoir – The internal, 92 ounce reservoir sits on a platform that judges the water level by weight to safeguard the boiler. This eliminates less-dependable in-tank, electronic water level sensors. When the water is too low to allow safe operations the machine is shut down which protects the heating elements.

Temperature Safety Switch – A user-resettable safety switch turns off the heating elements if overheating of the boiler occurs. The thermostat is located on the bottom of the boiler, and Pasquini has added an access panel making it easy to check and reset the thermostat if it ever becomes necessary to do so.
