Current choices for the finishing materials include: African rosewood, Maple, Wenge and Colored Aluminum for handles, stainless steel, aluminum, brass and copper for the base.
Tamping espresso grounds is an extremely important part of the espresso making process because pressurized water passing through the espresso machine, must meet the resistance of a packed cake of coffee grounds in order to create the espresso consistency and taste. The water must be forced to push through the coffee grounds in order to brew.
A tamper is the tool used to press loose coffee grounds into a tightly packed, evenly dispersed puck within the porta filter, where the water and coffee will come in contact when you are brewing.
