In Alice Rawsthorn’s recent blurb in the International Herald Tribune, A shot of Frustration, Ms Rawsthorn fails to see the wonderful development the espresso machine market has undergone in recent years. While I highly value great coffee, at my core I value freedom of choice. Never before have we had so many different espresso machines to choose from. Here at 1st in Coffee, we specialize in providing expert advice to consumers looking to produce espresso or cappuccino at home. The right machine for a working mother of 4 who spends $10 a day at S*bucks is not the right choice for the espresso hobbyist keen on experimentation. Choice, it’s a good thing.

Panamanian coffee estate Hacienda Esmeralda sold a half ton of their award winning Geisha coffee beans for a world record $130 per pound. Most unprocessed green coffee beans go for less than $5 per pound. What people are saying:
Mark Prince (www.coffeegeek.com): When I cupped / pressed / vac potted this coffee, I got a grapey / blue fruit start to the coffee, the “tangerine / morphs into mandarin orange as it cools” middle, and a very soft, supple and creamy Hawaiian macadamia flower honey finish.
Dan Cox, past President of the Specialty Coffee Association of America: “It was a joke and a half”, “just because there unique doesn’t mean they’re worth $130 a pound.
Zoka Coffee: The flavor experience is unparalled in its amazing floral character. The fruit is explosive, and the balance is sweet with a smooth and silky finish.
