I purchased a refurbed 9.3 and it was in almost new condition and packed very well. Really appreciated the complimentary Illy coffee, and that 1st cup confirmed that this is truly the best all- in- one machine on the market. Good things do come in small packages as it fits nicely on the counter but allows easy access to the beans and water (unlike the Saeco it replaced) Water tank is good for typically 2-3 days of morning and afternoon coffees...I particularly enjoy the milk products and the one button cappuccino selections make it a breeze to get a beautiful foamed coffee. And unlike other machines that make lots of noises and clunks this fine piece of technology just purrs as it goes through the steps!
Very easy to clean as you just slide out the drip tray which has 3 components: bottom tray collection, top tray and a dregs box. Rinse out the 3 pieces and you are done. The automatic milk frother does require a bit more work but only a quick rinse and the machine will auto rinse if you set it. One caution- the manuf does have a milk system cleaning product and it is there for a reason. I neglected to run the milk system cleaning cycle (seems like it is about every 6 weeks or so) and it caused the frother to stop working properly. It only takes about 3-5 minutes to cycle the cleaning solution through the system so do follow those steps and it is a trouble-free process. One other tip is to purchase the stainless steel thermos to store your milk in …makes it a lot easier than struggling with getting the tube in the milk carton.
I have this machine for less than 1 day and hooked on the features and the types of coffee that can be made. I have a $300 grinder and a $300 Mochamaster which will now be mothballed. We purchased a refurbished J9, wow, if this is a refurbished machine, I have to wonder what a new machine is like. This J9 machine is pristine with one very minor scratch on the drip tray, not a big deal. Still learning all the recipes and now on to learning how to be a barista to meet my wife's expectations!
This replaced my C7. The coffee is great, the machine works fabulous, and the TFT screen is very nice. So all of the important things are very impressive. BUT, for some inexplicable reason, the spouts do not adjust as high, which means that I have to slip a cuff mug underneath. Not a big issue, but in a unit that supposedly retails for $2999, I don't know why they reduced the max spout height by about 0.5 inches. Second problem: this is a high maintenance machine. It seems like it holds significantly fewer coffee beans than my old unit, and significantly less water, so it feels like I am always filling beans, filling water or emptying the drawer, or at least, a lot more frequently than my old unit. Again, with a unit retailing for so much more, why Jura chose to reduce the water tank size and the bean holder is a mystery. But other than that, and maybe I was just spoiled, this is a great machine where it counts . . . making coffee
