Jura Maintenance & Accessories

Jura Maintenence

One of the great things about the Jura line of automatic coffee centers is how easy they are to maintain. Jura has designed the machines to be as easy to keep up as they are easy to use. This page will serve as an overview of the coffee machine repair procedures and Jura accessories, please refer to the instruction booklet for your particular model for detailed instructions for these cleaning and maintenance procedures.

Internal Cleaning

After each coffee is prepared, Jura machines dump the used grinds into a catch bucket. Periodically, the machine will indicate that it is time to "Empty Grinds". This is easily done by sliding the drip tray forward, exposing the catch bucket. Simply dump, rinse and replace.

Your Jura will also rinse water through the brew spouts at start up and shut down, from time to time you will need to remove the drip tray, dump the rinse water and replace the drip tray.

Less frequently, after about 200 cups, the machine will indicate it needs a tablet cleaning. This automatic cleaning cycle prevents coffee oil build-up in the brew chamber. A short 15 minutes automated tablet cleaning program with clear instructions in the LED display insures clean inner parts and coffee that will never tastes oily or rancid. No inner parts need to be removed. This cleaning program requires Jura Cleaning tablets, they are available in a Jar of 25 or in a 6 pack.

Water Filtration

All Jura coffee centers are designed to use water filters. These filters remove chlorine, lead, aluminum and copper from your tap water for a better tasting coffee. A special organic additive removes almost all carbon and eliminates the need for machine decalcifying altogether. Using these water filters is optional, but highly recommended. A water hardness test strip is included to allow you to set your water hardness level in that event that you decide not to use water filters (See decalcification below).

There are several different water filters, be sure to purchase the correct water filter for your machine. Jura has begun re-using model names, please check your instruction manual to confirm which filter your machine requires.

Clearyl Smart Water Filters utilize RFID technology allow certain Jura machines to automatically recognize when a filter is and installed and then to activate the filter.
